Azerbaijani hackers break and publicize data of over 3,500 Armenian coronavirus patients
Azerbaijanis have publicized data of about 3,500 Armenian coronavirus patients and those who contacted with them.
Speaking to Aysor.am, security affairs expert Samvel Martirosyan said that the data has been publicized about the patients from Armavir province.
“So far data from Armavir province has been publicized. It can mean two things – either they have broken the data of Armavir hospital or they have broken more but yet publicized only Armavir data. Hopefully, it will be the first variant,” Martirosyan said.
According to the expert, this case has no relation with the earlier leakage of data of the people who died from coronavirus.
“In the first case we do not know who publicized them, I think the cases have no relation to one another. More probably the first case was leakage from inside, while this one is a hacker attack,” he said, stressing that the first case has other peculiarity too.
“As far as these are already deceased people, it is not considered personal data, while this one involves personal data of over 3,000 people,” Martirosyan said.
As to who must ensure the protection of the medical secrecy, Samvel Martirosyan said, “It a big question who must do it. I think in Armenia it is not clear.”
Asked whether the Azerbaijanis used the information collected from cell phones, Martirosyan said, “the Government of Armenia has not reported who checked and in general, whether it was technically checked or not, whether this base is safe or not. We can only hope that there would be no data leakage.”
