Motion on lifting parliamentary immunity cannot be result of political decision: advisor to Attorney General
The motion on lifting parliamentary immunity of any deputy, including Gagik Tsarukyan, cannot be a result of political decision, advisor to Attorney General Gor Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook.
“Such decisions are being made in the sidelines of exclusively criminal proceedings based on whether the Attorney General assesses the proofs collected during the examination satisfactory or not for making such motion,” Abrahamyan wrote.
“Consequently, it is useless to run ahead of developments with the attempts to politicize the exclusively criminal proceedings,” he wrote, adding that the public will be informed if legal grounds for applying to the NA with such motion be found.
Earlier today, PAP deputy Naira Zohrabyan wrote that "political decision has been made that Attorney General Artur Davtyan must appear in the NA on Tuesday with the motion to lift parliamentary immunity of PAP faction head Gagik Tsarukyan and engage him as a defendant. Armenia’s Attorney General still has a chance not to implement the political order. !No Pasaran!”
