Mr Tusk should be more restrained and not interfere into affairs of Armenia’s people: Alen Simonyan
The leaders of European People’s Party (EPP) always support the representatives of the parties belonging to their group, Vice Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly Alen Simonyan said, referring to the statement of EPP President Donald Tusk.
“I think Mr Tusk must be more restrained and not interfere into the affairs of people of Armenia. There are more specialized people for defending Serzh Sargsyan,” Alen Simonyan said.
To the observation whether in his opinion Tusk’s statement is agreed with the assessment Serzh Sargsyan gave to the incumbent authorities of Armenia, Simonyan said, “I think Mr Tusk sees Armenia through the eyes of Serzh Sargsyan, which are eyes cut off from reality, are waiting for justice and cannot have any relation to the citizens of Armenia and Armenia’s reality for already long time, even before the revolution.”
Earlier, EPP President tweeted that the party is concerned by numerous instances of backsliding of democracy in Armenia.
"We call on Armenian authorities to refrain from pressuring the opposition," he wrote, mentioning that EPP will promote EU-Armenia relations in the framework of CEPA, exercising political will for full ratification and implementation of the agreement.
