Number of entrepreneurs and philanthropists express readiness to support in paying Kocharyan’s $4,1 mln bail
The amount of bail set by the Criminal Court of Appeal for releasing Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan from jail is unprecedented, director of the second president’s office Viktor Soghomonyan wrote on Facebook.
“This sum may endanger the possibility of getting free from custody especially in conditions when just two days are given for paying it,” he said, adding that after the court’s ruling they received hundreds of calls where the citizens expressed readiness to support within their capabilities.
He also said that a number of big entrepreneurs and philanthropists expressed readiness to support too. Soghomonyan said they will publish their names soon.
The Criminal Court of Appeal upheld the motion of Kocharyan’s defense team and ruled to free the second president from custody on 2 billion AMD bail ($4,1 mln).
