Initiation of process of constitutional changes by deputies illogical: Bright Armenia MP

Bright Armenia faction has got familiarized with the text of constitutional amendments just today from mass media, deputy from Bright Armenia faction Taron Simonyan said at a briefing today.

“This once again proves that even the MPs are not get familiarized with the changes in the mother law on time,” he said, adding that the hastiness proves the not so frank behavior.

“Changes are expected in two main directions - the first one is the termination of powers of CC judges having worked for 12 years and the second is the removal of the CC chairman and election of new one,” Simonyan said, noting that the two issues are rather problematic from legal perspective.

The deputy said the government on behalf of minister of justice applied earlier to the Venice Commission for advisory opinion over the process.

“But they did not wait for the opinion and initiated the process. This is illogical: you cannot ask for opinion from international structures and start a process without getting the response,” he said.
