My Step to terminate powers of CC judges, to carry out constitutional coup today (168.am)

The 88 deputies of the My Step faction will carry out a constitutional coup today, committing crimes under Article 300 (embezzlement of power) and Article 300.1 (overthrowing the constitutional order) of the RA Criminal Code, 168.am reports.

With the gross violation of the Constitution and without the consent of the Constitutional Court, the deputies of the National Assembly will adopt the draft Constitutional amendments in two readings on June 22, terminating the powers of the judges of the Constitutional Court.

This is the same draft that was toughly criticized last Friday by the Venice Commission.

Citing its source, 168.am writes that the My Step faction has already reached an agreement with RA President Armen Sarkissian.

According to that agreement, Armen Sarkissian will not dispute the constitutionality of the mentioned process, but, he will not sign the corresponding draft either.

After that, the corresponding amendment will be signed by NA President Ararat Mirzoyan.
