Armenia’s parliament adopts draft of Constitutional amendments at first reading
Armenian parliament adopted at the first reading today the draft on Constitutional amendments.
Eighty-nine MPs from My Step faction backed the draft, while the two opposition factions boycotted the session and did not participate in the voting.
In particular the draft offers to terminate the powers of the Constitutional Court judges who have been in office for more than 12 years and proposes that the term of office of the serving president of the Constitutional Court be ceased, after which new president of the Constitutional Court be elected.
The second reading is scheduled later today.
