Bright Armenia faction secures itself, acts with own calculations: MP Tigran Urikhanyan
For already the second day the whole information field is discussing whether there is opposition in Armenia or there is not, lawmaker Tigran Urikhanyan told Aysor.am.
“As consumer of information and as a citizen I am very much interested in this issue,” Urikhanyan said.
The lawmaker stressed that one parliamentary opposition – the PAP – considers itself suppressed and is not coming to the NA, the other [Bright Armenia] is searching for a third way.
“Consequently, it appears that there is no opposition in Armenia... Who is serving the political interests of citizens who do not agree with the policy of the authorities?" Urikhanyan said.
He stressed that if the hopes of the opposition sector of the population are broken and their political interests are not being served the mentioned forces are not only being deprived of the comparably small number of votes but of necessary amount of votes for becoming a majority in future.
“The opposition field is being eliminated at least on the parliamentary level. This is the way I assess the actions of Bright Armenia faction,” the MP said.
Asked what impedes the two parliamentary opposition forces to unite in conditions when the two are dissatisfied with the decisions of the ruling faction and why the Bright Armenia for already second time does now sign PAP’s initiative to apply to the CC, Tigran Urikhanyan said, “If to be very frank and put aside the diplomatic formulations – the calculations, wish to fit in soft range and be secure from risks.”
As to whether the Bright Armenia is moving forward with political calculations and does not join the opposition colleagues for this reason, Urikhanyan said, “You make me say bypassing the diplomatic formulations – yes.”
