Bright Armenia has no reason to wait and can join the application to CC immediately: Kocharyan’s attorneys

Defense team of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan has recalled the applications submitted to the Constitutional Court of Armenia.

The defense team members explained the decision with the statement of the Bright Armenia faction.

“One of the factions mentioned Mr Kocharyan’s case as a pre-condition for not violating the parliamentarism. The president expressed clear position that if his case raises certain impediments in the establishment of parliamentarism he will demand that his attorneys withdraw the applications submitted to the CC. Our request to all the political forces will be not to mention neither the name of Mr Kocharyan or any of the attorneys in the processes relating to the constitution and view the process in the circle of exclusively parliamentary factions and authorities of the MPs,” attorney Aram Orbelyan said, adding that if they are waiting for a certain date after which they will submit the application, now based on the withdrawal of the applications they are free to join the process.

The defense team has withdrawn applications relating the compliance of Article 300.1 with Articles 72, 73, 78, 79 of the Constitution.

Earlier Bright Armenia faction head Edmon Marukyan stated that they would wait for the CC to examine Kocharyan's case and only then will join the application to the CC to dispute the constitutionality of the Constitutional amendments adopted by the parliament on Monday.
