Applications withdrawn but case to still be examined at CC: Taron Simonyan

Robert Kocharyan’s attorneys stated about withdrawing the application, but they do not say what relation it has with the examination of the case at the CC, deputy from Bright Armenia faction Taron Simonyan told the reporters, stressing that the case will be examined as the court too applied to the CC and on the basis of the court’s application the CC set a date of the examination of the case.

“Our statement is agreed with the circumstance that this case [Kocharyan’s] will be examined on July 7. To exclude any political influence on this legal process and not to allow any political force influence  the process of disputing the constitutionality issue with any political component, we said that we will initiate the legal process only after the examination of this case takes place,” Simonyan said.

He said that the statement of Kocharyan’s lawyers about the withdrawal of the application is normal.

“Let them do that but the case will be examined anyway. If the Constitutional Court decides that it will not examine the case, our condition is in force, no one steps back of it. We believe that the process of disputing constitutionality of unconstitutional process is a clear legal process and none of the political figures must speculate it with own political purposes,” Simonyan said.
