Serzh Sargsyan and other’s criminal case court session postponed
The court session on the criminal case against third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and others has been postponed.
Third president’s attorney Amram Makinyan motioned to postpone the session due to coronavirus pandemic.
Prosecutor Arsen Martirosyan objected, saying that the court conditions allow to continue the session.
Judge Vahe Misakyan stated that the court’s building conditions give opportunity to ensure social distancing. He said that the further absence of any of the parties from the session will be considered inadmissible and disrespect to the court.
The next session will take place on August 6 at 2 p.m.
The others passing with the case are Flash fuel company owner of Barsegh Beglaryan, former Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture Samvel Galstyan, and Gevorg Harutyunyan, Head of the Plant Breeding Department of the same ministry.
The defendants did not attend the hearing, and only their attorneys were present.
According to the indictment of this criminal case, being organized by Sargsyan, pushed by Beglaryan, and assisted by Galstyan and Harutyunyan, Karapetyan had wasted—from January 25 to February 7, 2013—AMD 489,160,310 of subsidy allocated from the government's reserve fund for the 15,391,765 liters of diesel fuel that was used during the implementation of state assistance programs.
