Armenia’s NA chairman says former CC members applied to ECHR but not sure whether interim decision will be made

Former members of the Constitutional Court had right to apply to the ECHR what they actually did, Armenia’s NA speaker Ararat Mirzoyan told at the NA today.

“But whether the ECHR will make an interim decision or not I don’t know,” he said.

Armenia’s president said that he had several times offered CC member candidates but the NA did not approve them and offered that three CC members be appointed by the NA, three by the government and three by the president.

Referring to it, the NA chairman said that the president twice offered a candidate which the NA did not approve and he offered the other which was approved.

“According to acting regulations the court-forming bodies, including the president offer candidates, and it is for the NA to decide to elect them or not. We acted in accordance with the Constitution,” the NA chairman said, adding that the president’s offer supposes constitutional changes.

The NA chairman said the president must submit his offer to the commission dealing with the constitutional changes, but added that the current regulations are fine.
