Armenia’s DM instructs to respond as necessary, up to seizing new advantageous positions

Defense Minister of Armenia Davit Tonoyan is in constant touch with the personal representative of the OSCE chairman-in-office Andrzej Kasprzyk, spokesperson of the Ministry Shushan Stepanyan reports.

“During the last conversation the defense minister informed that the personnel and the command of the Armenian Army are instructed to be restrained for time and in case of provocations by the enemy on the borders of the Republic of Armenia respond as necessary up to seizing new advantageous positions,” Shushan Stepanyan wrote on Facebook.

After the two attempts during the day of July 12, starting from afternoon, in the evening the Azerbaijani side resumed shelling toward the same direction—from an 82mm grenade launcher and a tank, the DM spokesperson wrote.

"The military-political leadership of Azerbaijan will bear full responsibility for the consequences of the escaaltion of the situation," she wrote on Facebook.

It has been reported earlier that the Azerbaijani side suffered 2 casualties, other 5 servicemen were wounded after trying to infiltrate into the territory of Armenia.

The Armenian side has not suffered any casualties.
