Operational situation on border under control: Armenia's DM
At around 12.30 p.m. local time on July 12 an UAZ-model vehicle approached one of the positions of the Armenian Armed Forces and with unknown reasons the servicemen got out of the car and moved in the direction of the Armenian position in the territory of Armenia, Armenia’s Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan said at the special cabinet sitting today.
“As far as the movement was unclear, the Armenian side, considering the possibility that the Azerbaijani soldiers lost their way and were not aware of the operational control, suggested that they leave the territory. After the warning, they left the UAZ vehicle and returned to their positions. But then, the adversary started shelling the same position from mortar shells, in parallel to it, the combat groups of the adversary started moving toward the Armenian positions which was though suppressed with the usage of artillery and corresponding actions. Suffering losses, the adversary retreated,” Tonoyan said.
The minister said till now, with the same scenario, every 15-20 minutes the adversary has resumed shooting with the break being for two hours from 3.30 a.m. to 5.30 a.m. local time.
Tonoyan said the firing points were suppressed by snipers. The enemy suffered considerable losses.
“The operational situation on the border is under control,” the minister said.
