Biyagov also referred to targeting of civilian infrastructures and civilians by Azerbaijani armed forces.
In particular, Armenia’s permanent representative stressed that the Azerbaijani armed forces are shelling the civilian infrastructures of Chinari and Aygepar communities.
“According to incoming information, during the recent hours the UAVs shelled civilian infrastructures of Berd community,” he said.
"During the recent period the Azerbaijani side, opposite to the calls of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to refrain from provocative actions and military rhetoric, opposite to the call of the UN Secretary-General to establish global ceasefire during the coronavirus pandemic, which was backed by the CSTO member states, is constantly coming forth with the threats of usage of force and military escalation, while now it is even making an attempt to bring them to reality. The full responsibility of the escalation of the situation in the CSTO responsibility zone lays on the Azerbaijani military-political leadership," the representative said.
In the pre-context of the issues on necessity of maintaining regional security and stability, Biyagov focused the attention of the representatives of the CSTO member countries on the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, noting that Armenia strictly condemns Turkey’s attempts to provoke instability in the region.
“The created situation is a matter of serious concern and attention for the organization as a whole and for each of the member state in general, as an attempt is being made to carry out an aggression in its responsibility zone against one of its member states. We urge our allies show solidarity and mutual assistance in accordance with the spirit of the CSTO Charter. This unprecedented situation is an important trial for each of the member state and the organization,” the representative said.
Armenia’s permanent representative will continue works in the sidelines of the CSTO.
