Threats to strike Metsamor NPP shows Azerbaijan’s essence of being terrorist state: Armenia’s PM
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred at the cabinet sitting today to the recent developments on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“On July 12 Azerbaijan initiated attack on our positions. The Armenian Armed Forces not only pushed the attacks of the adversary back but inflicted serious losses to them. The Azerbaijani side suffered many casualties, including equipment, weapons, 4th generation equipment which is the victory of the mind and industrial complex of the Armenian armed forces,” the head of the government said.
He said the domestic political situation in Azerbaijan is not stable with the leadership of the country forcing to carry out new provocations.
“Azerbaijan attacked Armenia’s sovereign territory. I repeat the positions that have become the arena of the events of the past two weeks are in the territory of sovereign Armenia, and Azerbaijan’s accusations about Armenia’s aggression are simply deprived of any sense,” the PM said.
Nikol Pashinyan said that all attacks of the adversary were pushed back and Armenia fostered its positions.
“For a long time we are urging Azerbaijan not to try to speak with us from the position of force and with threats, now we can say that Armenia not only denied the threat of force over the diplomatic table but showed on the battlefield that there are unreasonable and do not reflect the real ratio of the forces,” Pashinyan said.
The head of the government stressed that Armenian army was and is the source of pan-national pride.
“We stayed committed to three arrangements of ceasefire which were sequentially violated by Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan said.
As to Azerbaijan’s statement about striking Metsamor, the PM said the statement of Azerbaijan to strike Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant must be subject of serious international discussion as it shows Azerbaijan’s essence of being a terrorist state.
