Domestic tourism sector gradually activates but still results are not satisfying: Mekhak Apresyan
Domestic tourism is proceeding, intensifying but as compared with the same span of the past year the tempo is reduced, chairman of the Armenian Tourism Federation Mekhak Apresyan told Aysor.am.
“If to compare the current situation in the domestic tourism with the one we had during past one-two months everything is good now and the sector activates, but we have not reached the data of the second quarter of the past year which has objective explanations,” he said, adding that the coronavirus pandemic, the decline of income of the population are key factors of the existing picture.
He said the second factor is cautiousness, with people preferring having less contacts not putting own health at risk.
He stressed that these are the two restricting factors.
Apresyan also noted that the situation will be more clear in late August when statistics will be available.
The chairman also said this year the Armenian hotels and rest houses have not raised their prices and with some having even lowered them making their services quite affordable.
