Pashinyan: Situation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border relatively stabilized (Video)
Azerbaijani Armed Forces continue violating ceasefire on Armenian-Azerbaijani border, but in general the situation has stabilized, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in an interview with Russian RBK.
“The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and on the line of contact between Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh may be assessed as relatively calm. Unfortunately, Azerbaijani armed forces continue violating ceasefire but as of today [the past 2-3 days] it is the norm of the past ten years,” he said, stressing that Moscow played a key role in the stabilization of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs played a key role in the stabilization of the situation. Here I would like to stress Russia’s role in particular. I think the actions taken by Kremlin, the involvement of Russian MFA, General Headquarters played a significant role in reaching relative stability here. Russia’s role, surely, is exclusively constructive,” he said.
Pashinyan also said that many in Armenia are interested why Turkey unanimously supports Azerbaijan’s position while Armenia's strategic partner Russia is not unanimously supporting Armenia.
“It is necessary to understand that RF is OSCE Minsk Group co-chair which is dealing with the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Russia is a key mediator and its actions must be within these limits,” he added.
