Ex-president: Armenia’s government must confess conduction of wrong policy and accept having more dangerous situation of resumption of war
It has appeared that Azerbaijani president is not so constructive, Azerbaijan is not for peace and people of Azerbaijan are not ready for peace, Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan said at the meeting with journalists today.
“What our public was fed with, after Dushanbe in particular, – that we have constructive adversary with which we are negotiating and if suddenly they do not choose peaceful regulation we will apply to the people of Azerbaijan. What has remained from this position adopted two years ago? Has anything been left, or no?” Kocharyan said.
He said that even during the 1991-94 war such clashes between Armenians and Azerbaijanis never took place in Moscow or the United States.
“We should fix two extremely important facts – today we do not only have revenge seeking authorities in Azerbaijan but revenge seeking people in Azerbaijan. When these two circumstances unite, the possibility of resumption of war grows more. We must understand that the formula of applying to the people, tying hopes with constructiveness of the Azerbaijani government does not exist anymore. And today government must confess that it has conducted wrong policy over this issue during the past two years, and it should accept that today we have more dangerous situation regarding the resumption of war than two years ago,” Kocharyan said.
