Armenia will not face famine, but serious economic decline: ex-president
With its steps government may either promote or kill investments, Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan said at the meeting with journalists today, stressing that the economy is the result of government’s policy.
“Bonuses amounting to $120 million is it corruption, or it is not? It is an obvious theft from the budget,” he said.
Kocharyan said it is possible to repeat the economic success registered years ago.
“If you have prohibited people to work, you must provide them one-time assistance as many months as the state of emergency continues. When you are speaking about 18-20 programs it is extremely not enough. The pandemic should not have such an influence on our economy and the government’s steps were not adequate to the created situation. I do not think we will face famine, but the economy will register a serious decline,” the ex-president said.
