Armenia’s FM expects new Azerbaijani minister to be constructive and responsible
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan is looking forward to the meeting with the newly appointed foreign minister of Azerbaijan.
“I did not have direct contacts with simple reason. It is essential for us to register at best this de-escalation and get prepared to the next phase of works,” the minister said at the program on Shant TV.
He reminded that the previous meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani ministers took place in late January.
“We need to carry out lasting, in-depth substantial work in all directions for passing to the next phases to which we were absolutely ready. But this pandemic really impeded the process and resulted in new developments, different domestic political manifestations in very Azerbaijan too,” the minister said.
Mnatsakanyan stressed that using Armenia as a convenient enemy is unacceptable and ineffective.
“It would have been much more useful for Azerbaijan to refer to its domestic political affairs, democracy, human rights, corruption issues more effectively, on its own, without using us as a convenient enemy. As to the new minister, I did not have an occasion to meet him, and of course, I am looking forward to,” Mnatsakanyan said, adding that he has expressed all the approaches which are the basis of Armenia’s position and is ready to work with each equally responsible person to advance in the process irrespective of who he is.
“Naturally, I am expecting to deal with constructive and responsible person to start working with,” the minister said.
