Armenia’s President nominates Artur Vagharshyan’s candidacy in post of CC judge

Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian nominated Artur Vagharshyan’s candidacy in the post of judge of the Constitutional Court of Armenia.

The president nominates his candidacy for the second time with the first one being on May 15, 2019 but rejected by the NA on May 29.

“So, the President of the Republic made nomination from the list of candidates offered by the consulting task group…During the meeting with the commission dealing with constitutional amendments the President of the Republic clearly expressed his position over the order of nomination of candidates and election,” the statement released by the president’s office said, stressing that it would have been closer to the logict of Constitution if the Constitution defined not the order of nominating CC judge candidates but the appointment of CC judge by the President, General Assembly of Judges and government/NA.

“In such case each would have bear the responsibility for his choice,” the statement said.
