There is no better solution for the community: Yerevan mayor on developments over Mashtots square
Yerevan mayor Hayk Marutyan speaking at a news conference today dedicated to the developments over Mashtots square stressed that each step he takes is addressed to free Yerevan from different illegal constructions and making it green.
“I believe that Yerevan should be greener than it is today,” he said, adding that everything is being done in accordance with law.
“I have actively fought and keep on fighting for each square, including for Mashtots. That time we won, and I move forward and foster this victory. The pavilions that were to be built that time were not built due to public pressure. But there is a café that had 277sq.m own territory and 17 sq.m pavilion registered in cadaster with the right of ownership,” the mayor said, adding that with the May 16, 2018 decision of ex-mayor Taron Margaryan the rent area becomes 1,048 sq.m and expires in December 2048.
“I have annulled the decision and an arrangement has been reached to destroy the 277sq.m and 17 sq.m own property and give lease with construction right in the same area, which means that the property which is being built there is community property,” the mayor said, adding that there is no better solution for the community.
