Yesterday's Beirut blast result of negligence of local authorities: expert
The statements of the Lebanese authorities push aside the variant that yesterday’s massive explosion in Beirut was a terrorist attack, expert in Arab affairs Sargis Grigoryan told Aysor.am.
He said yesterday’s explosion was more result of negligence of the local authorities and the representatives of the authorities are yet to answer how it happened that explosive materials of such volume were stored for years in downtown Beirut.
“In a country where the leadership is rather weak, which has serious issues, crisis, the yesterday’s incident was not excluded. These blasts reflected the current situation in the country,” he said.
As to the possible flow of Lebanese Armenians to the homeland after yesterday’s incident, the expert said the social-political crisis in Lebanon is lasting for long time and raises certain moods and negative feelings among separate ethnic groups which influence the general picture.
“The Armenian community is not an exclusion. In the recent period some part of them were returning to Armenia,” he said, adding that the causes of return of Lebanese Armenians to homeland are deeper.
