Armenia and Russia settled disagreements over South Caucasus Railway operation
Armenian and Russian transport agencies have settled the disagreements over the operation of the South Caucasus Railway (100% subsidiary of Russian Railways Company), Russia’s Ministry of Transport said in a press release.
“The protocol was signed today by Russia’s deputy minister of transport Vladimir Tokarev and deputy territorial administration and infrastructures minister of Armenia Armen Simonyan,” the press release stated, adding that with it all the disputes over the financial-economic activities of the subsidiary of the Russian Railways Company have been settled.
The relations between the Russian company and Armenian authorities became tense after searches and criminal cases Yerevan instituted against the South Caucasus Railway in August 2018, accusing the company of tax evasion. In response the company stated about biased investigation.
According to Russian RTVI, seven cases have been instituted against the South Caucasus Railway united in one. The company considers the accusations unsubstantiated.
The Armenian Railway was given to the Russian Railways Company in 2008 as concession for 30 years.
