Serzh Sargsyan’s case hearing postponed, next session scheduled for October
The court session on the criminal case against third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has been postponed today.
Sargsyan’s lawyer Amram Makinyan explained the absence of Serzh Sargsyan with health issues, in particular existence of acute respiratory background.
The lawyer submitted to the judge Vahe Misakyan doctor’s reference which says that Serzh Sargsyan must receive medical treatment.
The judge stated about postponing the court hearing.
Prosecutor Arsen Martirosyan said the document does not show the existence of diseases that would have deprived the person of an opportunity to attend the court hearing.
Nevertheless, the judge did not consider the absence of the third president disrespectful.
The next hearing has been scheduled for October 22 at 3 p.m.
To note, last time the court considered Serzh Sargsyan’s absence disrespectful.
The criminal case also involves Flash fuel company owner Barsegh Beglaryan, former Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture Samvel Galstyan, and Gevorg Harutyunyan, Head of the Plant Breeding Department of the same ministry.
According to the indictment of the criminal case, being organized by Sargsyan, pushed by Beglaryan, and assisted by Galstyan and Harutyunyan, Karapetyan had wasted - from January 25 to February 7, 2013 - AMD 489,160,310 of subsidy allocated from the government's reserve fund for the 15,391,765 liters of diesel fuel that was used during the implementation of state assistance programs.
