Pashinyan: Armenia registers worsening of social-economic situation but there is no social collapse
Beyond any doubts the pandemic essentially damaged the social-economic situation in Armenia, but it is very important to assess the damages, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the cabinet sitting today.
He said that the worsening of the social situation may be testified by the trade turnover with cash register receipts while in August 2020 the cash register turnover reduced only by 2,5% as compared with the August 2019.
“It means that the trade in all the places reduced by 2,5% and this low index has been reached just now. This figure must testify that there are no doubts of the existence of social issues but they did existed in 2019 too,” Nikol Pashinyan said, stressing that the situation in Armenia cannot be described as social collapse or crisis.
“The figures show that there is no social crisis in Armenia, but definitely we have worsening of social, economic situation,” the PM said, stressing that as of yesterday the government injected 163,4 billion AMD in the sidelines of anti-crisis measures which were mainly addressed to preservation of jobs.
