We need not recognition of right to self-determination, but its result – independence of Artsakh: expert
The self-determination right is inalienable right of the people of Artsakh that does not need to be recognized, there is a need of recognition of the implementation of this right, director of Hayatsk think tank Anna Karapetyan told Aysor.am.
During joint press conference with the foreign minister of Egypt, Armenia’s FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said Armenia’s priority is ensuring physical security of people of Nagorno Karabakh and the status – recognition of the right to self-determination and its implementation with restrictions.
Commenting on the statement the expert stressed that the self-determination right is inalienable right of the people of Artsakh which does not need to be recognized.
“Its implementation and the result of its implementation, that is to say – Artsakh’s independence must be recognized,” she said.
“For already another time the incumbent authorities of Armenia put the self-determination right in dependence from second, third countries. If previously it was being done with the absurd thesis of finding resolution acceptable for the peoples of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Artsakh now it is demand of recognition of the self-determination right. By the way the minister too reiterated the thesis of the three peoples,” she said.
Anna Karapetyan also said that though Zohrab Mnatsakanyan is speaking about the right to self-determination he puts only the security issue in the core of the settlement of the conflict.
