Turkey develops policy of instability and aggression: Armenia’s FM
Turkey is an important country for the security of the South Caucasus region, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said in an interview with EFE, adding though that he is not so optimistic regarding the normalization of relations with that country.
Mnatsakanyan stressed that Ankara continues denying the genocide of the Armenians by the Ottoman Empire and denies the right of justice for millions of Armenians.
Mnatsakanyan accuses President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan of not using the opporunity of 2009 football diplomacy.
“Turkey’s reconciliation policy showed today its restrictions,” the minister said, adding that Armenia thinks Turkey is developing “policy of instability and aggression” and while all the countries were urging to stop July military clashes, Ankara did the opposite – provoked the conflict, expressing its full support to Baku’s military manipulations.
Mnatsakanyan stated that the denial of genocide, economic blockade and full support to Baku is a threat to Armenia’s security.
“While Turkey says that it wants zero issues with neighbors, in reality it is the source of instability and aggression for all its neighbors and an attempt is being made to export this policy to the South Caucasus. We cannot stay indifferent toward it,” the minister said.
