Restoration of international tourism very important: head of Armenian Tourism Federation
The restoration of tourism sector in Armenia started with the domestic tourism as predicted with many businessmen being able to “take a breath” and have an income, chairman of Armenian Tourism Federation Mekhak Apresyan told Aysor.am.
“It was also a very good opportunity to reveal the country, which we all are not familiarized with well enough,” Apresyan said, adding though that despite the activeness and progress the last year’s index has not been reached with the decline reaching approximately 40%.
Apresyan though voiced hope that the last year's figure will be approached as July and August were very active and hot.
“It was good but it does not resolve all the issues. The absence of international tourism is essentially noticeable. There was domestic movement, but the restoration of international tourism and the flow of money from it is very important,” he said.
Quoting the PM’s words about resuming flights by 10-12 air carries, Apresyan said it is necessary to set clear rules and publish them for the people to know the conditions of arriving here.
“For instance they came, passed the test, what will they do if testing positive? Besides, it is necessary to ensure equal conditions for passing tests and set minimum price,” the head of the Tourism Federation said, adding about the necessity of clear approach.
