Tense situation in Ararat region, farmers complain of grape harvest purchasing prices

The situation on Yerevan-Yeraskh highway is tense. The farmers have closed the road complaining of grape purchase prices.

The villagers of Shahumyan and nearby villages have closed the road demanding solution to their issue.

“Last year we sold it by 150 AMD, this year by 100 AMD, this 100 AMD is self-price. How we will keep our children? Will the PM keep our families? Our PM does not do anything for us,” one of the farmers said.

The farmers say they have taken a loan and now they are facing a problem as the entrepreneurs refuse to buy the grape.

“It is their business, they do as they want. The government is so unaware of the developments in the republic that it fails to organize all this. They new quite well that a good harvest is expected this year. We gave dotation to the businessmen for them to accept the harvest we have grown, but they do not even have information how many plants will accept the grape and how many not. They dissolved the Ministry of Agriculture leaving everything on human relations,” one of the farmers said.

Asked whether they spoke with the governor about the issue, the farmers said the governor is not able to solve issues.

“Who is the governor to solve the issue? He met with the residents of the neighboring village, he deceived them. There is no one in the region to solve the issue,” one of the farmers said.
