Fighting for own rights is not sabotage: Head of Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center on recent developments and their victory
Head of Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia Gevorg Tamamyan is convinced that Armenia’s Prime Minister has been given wrong information about the decision of doctors to resign which became the reason why the PM referred to the behavior of doctors in his yesterday’s post.
“First I would like to thank the Prime Minister for rational decision stemming from the interests of our state and people,” Tamamyan said at the meeting with the doctors.
The situation became tense after Ministry of Health made a decision to terminate the working contract with the director of R. Yolyan Hematology Center Samvel Danielyan which followed the resignation application of the head of Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia Gevorg Tamamyan followed with the whole staff of the center – doctors, nurses, etc.
Late in the evening yesterday the PM referred to the situation in a Facebook post, reporting that he assigned health minister to extend working contract with Samvel Danielyan.
“I understand why the PM wrote the second part of his post. He stressed the necessity of checking the relations of impressions and reality. Yes, I truly agree, and without any back thoughts I invite the PM to visit this center and get familiarized with the carried out works. What is being done here, is being done voiceless, for decades. I am fully convinced that the false information is being reported. If he comes to our center and gets familiarized with the work of our staff he will consider our yesterday’s victory his victory,” Tamamyan said.
Referring to the comments that the doctors are sabotaging, he said, “People not having any idea what the medicine is are speaking. Do not pay attention to them. The assessment to our work is given by our patients and their parents… How can it be sabotage when people are fighting for their rights. The same doctors took to streets [during the revolution], was it sabotage too? The biggest achievement of the revolution is in this hall.
This day is historic not only for medicine but for civil society too. Who is the minister to make arbitrary decisions? He is paid by our taxes,” Tamamyan said, adding that during this period there was not any patient or parent of the patient who would not understand the step of the doctors.
“They know very well what this staff is ready for for each patient. For the first time the medical staff, the patients, the already cured patients and their parents were on one side, fighting for their rights. This was historic,” Tamamyan said.
At the end he voiced regret that PM’s spouse Anna Hakobyan quitted as head of City of Smiles Charitable Foundation.
