Gagik Tsarukyan is political prisoner: PAP issues a statement
Prosperous Armenia Party released a statement about the arrest of their leader Gagik Tsarukyan.
“Yesterday the court chaired by judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan with unlawful ruling arrested PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan,” the statement reads, adding that the court has not presented any grounded fact on how after four months after being charged Tsarukyan impeded the preliminary investigation.
“What happened is obvious political revenge toward the head of the biggest parliamentary opposition force and the PAP. It is obvious that Gagik Tsarukyan is a political prisoner,” the statement said, adding that after failing in all the sectors during the past two and half years the authorities headed by Nikol Pashinyan are trying to silence the opposition with “dirty political revenges”, ordering the obedient judge to arrest Gagik Tsarukyan.
The statement also added that the authorities have targeted a number of PAP figures, MPs, heads of territorial structures politically persecuting them with falsified legal processes.
“Dear compatriots, today our country is facing serious challenges. By bringing the country to social disaster and elaborating fierce fight against our national identity, reaching confidential arrangements with Azerbaijani political elite over Artsakh conflict settlement and with political revenges the incompetent authorities are trying to establish atmosphere of fear and awe in the country in which they will not succeed,” the statement said.
The PAP also stressed that the party together with its associate forces will continue fighting for the sake of the country and solution of issues of the citizens.
The party also stressed that the authorities will not manage to silence them with political revenges and all the masterminds and participants of the “cheap revenge” against Gagik Tsarukyan will be held responsible with all strictness of law.
“It is the matter of very short period of time,” the statement said.
