Russia's Medvedev urges NK conflicting sides cease fire to avoid catastrophic consequences for the region
Deputy head of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev urged the sides of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict cease the military actions otherwise it will be impossible to avoid catastrophic consequences for the region.
“The new round of the escalation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone again resulted in bloodshed, deaths of people. Nagorno Karabakh conflict cannot be settled by force. The settlement must be reached in exclusively political-diplomatic way,” Medvedev wrote on Facebook.
He stressed that the parties currently need to calm down.
“First of all it is necessary to stop whipping up passions, refrain from military rhetoric, with joint actions cease the military component of the conflict. Otherwise, it will be impossible to avoid catastrophic consequences for the region,” Medvedev stressed.
“Today all the opportunities should be used for finding solutions and overcoming the crisis, including the mechanism of co-chairmanship in the sidelines of the OSCE Minsk Group, including bilateral format considering that Armenia and Azerbaijan are our neighbors and close partners,” Medvedev said.
