Erdogan’s statement on situation over Karabakh adds fuel to the fire: Russian MP

The statement of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the time has come to put an end to Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories in already existing aggravated situation, is adding fuel to the fire, Member of International Relations Committee of Russia’s State Duma Yelena Panina stated.

Earlier Erdogan stated that the time has come “to put an end to the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia.”

Panina described such statements as dangerous, adding that Erdogan is trying to reinforce his image of “force” but knows quite well that the new war is not beneficial for anyone, including Turkey.

“Is not Erdogan satisfied with the flow of refugees from Syria for which he is mainly the one to be blamed?” the lawmaker told RIA Novosti.

Panina stressed that such statements “only add fuel to the fire” instead of stopping the bloodshed.
