Turkey's unconditional assistance to Azerbaijan promotes destabilization of the situation in CSTO responsibility zone: Armenia’s representative to CSTO
Session of the CSTO Permanent Council was convened on September 29. Before passing to the agenda issues, Armenia’s permanent and plenipotentiary representative in the structure Viktor Biyagov addressed the present, briefing on the situation created as a result of aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on the line of contact with Artsakh.
He stressed that the Azerbaijani side used artillery, air force targeted civilian population and infrastructures.
Biyagov also draw the attention of the participants of the session to the fact that the Azerbaijani aggression was pre-planned. At the same time he expressed deep concern over the unconditional support of Turkey to Azerbaijan which he said is nothing but absolute violation of international right.
“Rejecting the peace talks, the Azerbaijani leadership selected its way of settlement of the conflict provoking large-scale war which has already resulted in numerous casualties, including among the peaceful population,” he said, stressing that Turkey’s unconditional military and political support to Azerbaijan raises special concerns promoting the further destabilization of the situation in the CSTO responsibility zone and is a serious threat to the peoples of the region.
“Turkish specialists are serving in Azerbaijan’s armed forces, military equipment of Turkish production is being used including UAVs and force jets. The accumulation of Turkish-Azerbaijani groups on the border of the CSTO member state cannot but bother us. We are determined to resist and neutralize the intentions of this Turkish-Azerbaijani alliance with all our strength,” Armenia’s representative said.
Biyagov also referred to the disinformation spread in the morning today by the Azerbaijani ministry of defense which was aimed at preparing grounds for the expansion of conflict zone and launching aggression against Armenia.
“The expansion of the geography of the conflict may create direct danger to the security, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, and in this case we will apply corresponding military and political mechanisms to collectively respond to the external aggression,” he said.
