“Would you shut up man?”։ Trump VS Biden hot presidential debate
Trump VS Biden first presidential debate took place yesterday in Cleveland, Ohio. The debate was rather heated followed with interruptions and reciprocal accusations.
Nominees were debating over a number of issues, including coronavirus. But before coming to that Biden called Trump “liar” and while Trump was trying to interrupt him, Biden said “Would you shut up man?”.
While asked why Americans should trust him more than Trump in handling the health crisis, Biden blamed Trump for deaths of over 200,000 Americans from Covid-19.
“He knew all the way back in February how serious this crisis was. He knew it was a deadly disease. He didn’t tell people or give a warning because he didn’t want to panic. He waited he waited he waited and he still doesn’t have a plan,” Biden said.
Trump insisted that he closed the country to protect people but Democrats blamed him for that.
“You don’t agree. You wouldn’t have closed it for another two mounts. By my doing it earlier Fauci said I saved thousands of lives. We worked with the governor. Go take a look. Now we are weeks away from a vaccine,” said Trump.
In response to criticism in the media in his address Donald Trump said he knew the media blamed him but Biden would never have done the job they did. “With H1N1 you were a disaster,” Trump said.
Candidates also argued over many other topics. During the debates Trump interrupted Biden several times making the latter angry. He even called Trump a “clown”.
In fact, debates are very important for voters. Professor Mitchell S. McKinney says that debates are serving voters’ interest.
“It is the only moment in the US as you know, we have long campaigns, long primary seasons, two and a half years of campaigning for the presidency. But it is the only time on the debate stage where the major party candidates come together side by side, and voters really value that opportunity to compare the candidates,” says the professor.
In McKinney’s words, another important thing is that candidates show up without notes, without teleprompter, without their aids around them and they don’t even know in advance the questions that are going to be put to them. “And therefore, in that moment, voters see how they respond to a journalist question, how they respond to one another when they are attacked. And so, therefore I think that leads to this notion of getting the real, or the authentic candidate, which although there is issue discussion, and there is issue learning from the debate, the greatest form of learning or the impression that debates lead is on candidate's character or image of how they react to one another, how they respond, how they deal with attacks,” he says.
This was the first presidential debate between Trump and Biden. They are also going to have another two before the elections.
