Armenia’s PM’s thesis – “secession for salvation” the same as the right to self-determination: Armenia’s representative to ECHR

“Secession for salvation” principle is the same as the right to self-determination, Armenia’s representative to the ECHR Yeghishe Kirakosyan said at a press conference today.

He said it is the extreme way of implementation of the right to self-determination. 

“I don’t think that this thesis rejects that the secession has already taken place. It is a fact. The secession took place long time ago from the Soviet Union. Let’s fix that Nagorno Karabakh has never been part of independent Azerbaijan. It is very important and essential,” he said.

Kirakosyan said that Azerbaijan’s actions clearly show that this country aims at occupying and invading Artsakh.

“There is no way back, because you cannot imagine any other way of implementation of right to self-determination then secession for salvation,” Kirakosyan said.
