Armenia’s FM: Azerbaijan’s decision to become zone of Turkey’s influence and international terrorism threat to regional security
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan who is in the USA on working visit met today with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The key topic of discussion was the situation created in Artsakh as a result of Azerbaijani large scale aggression.
Minister Mnatsakanyan briefed to the U.S. Secretary of State about the war crimes committed by Azerbaijani armed forces during the military actions which are being manifested with indiscriminate targeting of civilian population and infrastructures, humiliating attitude toward civilian population and prisoners of war, beheadings and murders.
Secretary of State Pompeo expressed condolences of the American side on the Armenian losses.
Armenia’s Foreign Minister stressed that Azerbaijani aggression takes place with the direct involvement of Turkey in the form of direct military-technical assistance – transportation of armed terrorists to the region.
Mnatsakanyan stressed that Azerbaijan’s decision to become Turkey’s influence zone and center of international terrorism is a serious threat to the regional security.
Armenia’s Minister noted that the violation of ceasefire agreements by Azerbaijan and continuation of hostilities against people of Artsakh once again shows Azerbaijan’s aim to settle the conflict in a military way.
The interlocutors reiterated the necessity of implementation of achieved agreements on immediate cessation of hostilities in the conflict zone as well as continuation of the peace process in the sidelines of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
