Lives of 25,000 soldiers is more important, I think for you too: Armenia’s PM

In essence, the most important function of the commander is to give military or strategic task to the soldier, realizing that their implementation may result in loss of soldier’s life, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in his live address to the people.

“From the first days of war I put such issue before the Armed Forces but when a situation is being created when a soldier cannot influence on the further pace of developments, not the soldier must sacrifice for the homeland, but the homeland for the soldier. The commander must order not to die but he dies for the soldier. I signed this document with that realization, I understood that the possibility of my death is extremely big, I mean physically as well, but the lives of 25,000 soldiers is more important, I think for you too,” he said.

As to why he did not resign, the PM said it would have meant desertion.

He said it would also mean leaving the hellish obligation on the shoulders of the other, with the hope of that people would say Nikol Pashinyan is a patriot, did not sign the document, the other is a traitor and made this shameful step.

“Also because the decisions were to made within few hours, otherwise the wheel would rotate and it would be impossible to stop it,” Pashinyan said.
