Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences demands government’s resignation
Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences issued a statement on the situation created after the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh and Armenia. The statement was adopted at the November 24 session of the NAS.
In the statement the NAS described the November 9 statement adopted by Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian leaders as “humiliating” for the people of Armenia and envisaging big territorial losses for Artsakh and imposing serious restrictions of sovereignty.
The statement described the deployment of Russian peacekeepers as exclusive guarantor of salvation from Turkish-Azerbaijani genocidal policy and of establishment of peace in the region.
The NAS also urged to exclude demoralization in the army and promote its replenishment and modernization.
The structure also condemned the passive attitude of the authorities toward the science which resulted in impossibility of applying modern scientific-technical achievements in the country’s defense system.
The NAS also considered inadmissible sowing hostility, revenge, distrust, hatred in the society and urged taking efforts for establishing atmosphere of solidarity and unity.
“In the created situation we consider the further tenure of the RA government ineffective and demand the government’s resignation headed by the republic’s prime minister,” the statement concluded.
