Border changes leave Davit Bek residents unable to cultivate their lands
Residents of Syunik’s Davit Bek community will hence not be able to cultivate their lands due to border changes.
“We cannot even cultivate 300 hectares on the border because it is dangerous. Our lands are in our hands, it is just dangerous. What guarantees can we have to go and cultivate,” head of the community Benyamin Poghosyan told Aysor.am.
“We have no issue regarding territories, we are on our borderline. The issue is that we cannot put mechanism in our lands, they will hit us,” Poghosyan said.
He added that currently no shooting has been recorded, the situation is calm.
“The trenches pass with that borderline. The place where previously the houses of Turks were are 100 meters away from our border. Our lands are near their houses. Till now we calmly cultivated the lands, dealt with agriculture, now Turks came to our borderline,” Poghosyan said.
Asked whether the government has been reported about it, Poghosyan said, “Aren’t they aware what is going on? Deputies came and saw what is going on.”
