Lachin, the last region, passes to Azerbaijan
Last Lachin region has officially passed under control of Azerbaijan in the sidelines of the trilateral statement on cessation of hostilities in Nagorno Karabakh signed between Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani leaders.
Lachin corridor with the width of 5 kilometers remains under the control of Yerevan to ensure communication between Armenia and Karabakh.
The hostilities launched in Nagorno Karabakh on September 27. At the night of November 10 Armenia’s PM Nikol Pashinyan signed with the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia the agreement on cessation of hostilities.
According to the document, Baku and Yerevan stop on the occupied positions, part of Nagorno Karabakh’s territory passes to Azerbaijan.
On November 20 Aghdam region was officially handed over to Baku, on November 25 Kelbajar and on December 1 Lachin, the last one.
With this all the key provisions of the trilateral agreement were implemented. Russian peacekeepers have been deployed, the ceasefire is being maintained.
