Aliyev – Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan transport corridor to create platform for five-sided cooperation
The new transport corridor between Autonomous Republic of Nakhichevan and Azerbaijan will open a new transport artery, Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev stated today.
“The ninth provision of the trilateral statement testifies about the restoration of all economic transport communications. Armenia gives guarantees to ensure safe movement of the transport means and cargos in two directions,” Aliyev said in his address to Azeri people.
He said the control of the transport communication will be implemented by the Russian border guard service and on the basis of agreement signed between the parties new transport communication construction will be ensured tying Nakhichevan with Azerbaijan’s western regions.
“The opening of transport corridor will take Nakhichevan out from blockade and at the same time we open new transport artery. I can say that all the countries will win from it. Azerbaijan will join its inseparable part – Nakhichevan. Azerbaijan and Turkey unite. Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran and if Armenia wants it may too join this corridor. With this a 5-sided cooperation platform may be created in the region. I have submitted this idea both to the president of Turkey and president of Russia and they responded positively,” Aliyev said, stressing that Azerbaijan wants lasting peace.
“For reaching it we need cooperation to develop together with security events. We are ready for cooperation,” Aliyev said.
