Stepanakert airport expected to start operating by the end of 2020 - Artsakh president's consultant
In case of de-blockading all transport communication ways as envisaged in the trilateral statement of Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijan leaders the issue of re-opening of Stepanakert airport must also be put to discussion.
Speaking to Aysor.am consultant of Artsakh Republic president Davit Babayan said that the airport will be of not only military but of civilian significance.
“It must serve as one of the important objects of de-blockading of transport hub,” Babayan said.
He said it is necessary to restore Artsakh and the existence of airport is a extremely important in that regard.
“Consequently we expect the airport to operate soon and serve our people,” Babayan said, adding that he expects it to happen this year.
“We’ll see,” he noted.
During the war the airport was targeted by the enemy but was not much damaged.
“It may be operated very operatively,” Babayan said.
