Armenia remembers victims of 1988 disastrous earthquake (photos)
Thirty-two years ago on December 7 at 11.41 a disastrous earthquake hit Armenia fully destroying the town of Spitak with its nearby villages, 80% of buildings of Armenia’s second largest town – Gyumri (Leninakan).
The destructions were recorded in other 21 towns and 324 villages, it affected over 40% of the country’s territory.
According to official information 25,000 people were killed, 100,000 received different injuries.
Thirty-five years passed but still according to non-official information 2,300 families continue living in temporary shelters.
