All actions aimed at ensuring Syunik’s security – Armenia’s PM
On these days the Armenian Armed Forces, border guard forces are being deployed at the internationally recognized borders, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, referring to the developments in Syunik.
“Indeed, it brings certain changes in the environment familiar to us, creates certain difficulties and inconveniences, especially creates emotions and even assessments are being voiced that Syunik is being handed over or about danger of losing Syunik,” the PM said in his message to the nation, adding that just the opposite is taking place.
He stressed that all this is being done to guarantee Syunik’s security, reinforce these guarantees.
“The problem is that there was a big possibility of resumption of hostilities during the recent days in the territories out of internationally recognized borders of Armenia. If this escalation had taken place in the mentioned sector it would have transferred to the Syunik province, Armenia’s territory,” he said.
He stressed that deployment on the internationally recognized borders creates new security guarantees for Syunik.
“Today’s border is the border of already the security system we are member of and where completely other security rules are functioning,” Pashinyan said.
He stressed that in the created situation transport, logistic difficulties may raise but all the issues will be solved.
Pashinyan said efforts are being exerted in that direction, including on having trilateral document.
