Armenia's PM invites political forces for consultations on conducting snap parliamentary elections in 2021
Obviously the process launched by the opposition forces with demand of PM’s resignation did not receive people’s support, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashiyan wrote this on Facebook.
“The opposition had all the opportunities to generate people’s support, possesses huge financial, media, organizational means, had wide opportunities to organize rallies and protest actions but it not only failed to ensure necessary people’s support, but the number of its supporters reached minimum, the process in square is fading away,” the PM said, adding that no one can say that they kept the power by violent force.
“All this though does not change the commitment of our political team and my personal to answer before people. I have not clung to PM’s seat but I can neither display careless attitude toward the power given to me by the people, toward the seat of the PM. The fate of this post and the future political leadership of the country must be decided by the people with the expression of free will and I, as the prime minister of Armenia, consider myself the guarantor of the expression of this free will. I am also ready to leave the post of the PM as a result of the decision of the people. And I can leave the post of the PM only with the decision of the people. I am also ready in case of reaffirmation of the trust of the people continue heading the Republic of Armenia in this difficult times. There is only one way to receive answers to all the questions – conduction of snap parliamentary elections. Basing on the above mentioned, I invite parliamentary and interested non-parliamentary forces to consultations on conduction of snap parliamentary elections in 2021,” the PM stated.
