Issue of Artsakh status basic principle in the Artsakh conflict settlement negotiations during previous power – RPA vice president
Right of Artsakh people to self-determination was viewed as a cornerstone in the conflict settlement process, vice president of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan told the reporters today.
He added that during their authority they registered very important success in the whole negotiation process.
“Armenia was viewed by the Minsk Group co-chairs as a constructive side, we were their favorites, because we were negotiating so wisely that by keeping our positions we were also managing to come forth constructively on Azerbaijan’s background,” he said.
The next success he said was that from 2009 to 2013 Russia, France and the USA leaders adopted 5 statements confirming that the key issue is the status of Artsakh and it should be solved with the free expression of will.
Ashotyan noted that their party leader, third president Serzh Sargsyan clearly formulated that Artsakh will never be part of Azerbaijan.
“This is our credo of regulation, being for mutual concessions, Armenia always managed to claim and reach registration of Artsakh right to self-determination as basic principle,” Ashotyan said.
