Armenia’s third president, Russian ambassador meet, discuss situation in Karabakh
President of the Republican party of Armenia, Armenia’s third president Serzh Sargsyan met with the Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin at the initiative of the Russian side.
This was reported by the vice president of the RPA Armen Ashotyan.
During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues on consequences of the Nagorno Karabakh war.
President Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the efforts to establish ceasefire regime, solution of humanitarian issues of the Karabakh people. He also particularly stressed the significance of the activity of the Russian Federation as the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing country for the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue on the basis fundamental principles, including on the basis of self-determination of the people for the final peaceful settlement of the conflict.
During the meeting the sides also stressed the significance of the effective efforts on return of Armenian prisoners of war, captives and search of missing.
With the request of the ambassador Sargsyan also referred to the current domestic political situation in the country and issues on new geo-political realities in the region.
In his turn, the ambassador presented Russia’s position over the discussed topics and the efforts exerted by it.
